During my time at Animography, I learned about its internal workflow and plugins, as well as managing Lottie exports and creating and updating animated typefaces.

Using Lottie to create web-ready animations

I created and adapted existing animations in order to maintain the original visual look while significantly reducing file weight. By simplifying mask structures and baking expressions into keyframes, I transformed heavier files into website-ready Lottie assets.

Building a motion system for Cal Sans

As part of my personal experimentation, I was inspired by papercut art to build a motion system for the Cal Sans typeface where the energy of the animation is controlled by sliders. I created an exaggeration parameter using expressions, making the typeface flexible and easy to adjust its personality.

Using AI to create scripts that do the heavy lifting

I used AI to create custom tools for After Effects that handled the boring parts, such as removing redundant keyframes and converting Fill effects into native properties. This helped me to spend more time on refining the movement.

Expanding the Cappuccino typeface

Using the original typeface as a reference, I designed new punctuation glyphs and polished existing vectors to create an updated version of Cappuccino. I updated the animated typeface with these new characters, linking them to the original color controllers and animating them to match the established motion system.
